First we would like to offer an open invitation to anyone reading this page.
Come along to the band room and meet the band.
We are always pleased to meet other brass players and happy to have extra
players sitting in with the band. If there is room in the bandroom, you are
welcome to sit in and play with us.
That said, like all bands in lower sections of the brass band registry, we have the usual problem of a continual (albeit slow) turnover of players and currently have vacancies for the following roles:
Mace Bearer
Most of us have seen films with one of those smarty Alec guys throwing a
mace high in the air and catching it when it comes back down again.
We
don't need someone quite as good as that although it would be nice and
quite impressive if we had one. What we would like is someone to march at
the head of the band and control it when on parade. It would be a great
relief for the front row players not to have the worry of where to go and
when to turn, allowing them to concentrate on playing the music. If you
fancy wearing a uniform and strutting your stuff in front of a band, then
give us a call. It could do wonders for your street-cred with the
boys/girls.
