Musical Director - Lee Woodward


Born in Manchester in 1971, Lee Woodward started playing the trombone at the age of 11 with his local Junior Band. After playing for a couple of 4th section Bands, he was offered the position of Principal Trombone with the Blackburn and Darwen Band, coming sixth at the National Finals and winning the Pontins Championship (1st Section). He has guested with bands such as Wingates, Leyland and Kennedy's Swinton Concert Band.

He joined the Army in 1992, at first in the Band of the King's Regiment, and then joined the Band of the Irish Guards in 1994 whom he has conducted on certain regimental occasions. In June 2010, after 16 years in The Irish Guards, Lee was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and delighted to be appointed Principal Trombone of The Band of the Royal Logistic Corps, based in Deepcut, Surrey.

Lee has played for Staines and Yiewsley and West Drayton Bands. At Yiewsley, he was asked once to fill in for the then conductor Chris Cole, and contracted the condition known as "Stick itch"! He has conducted Yiewsley both in rehearsal and performance and has also took the Fulham Brass Band in rehearsal.

Lee is married to Lorraine and has three children. His most recent band was the Almac Bisley Brass Band, whom he was conducting from March 2007.
