Whit Friday 2003

Friday 13th June

Whit Friday was a long day - starting in Greenfield at 8.30am. The Band formed up and marched to the church ready to play during the morning walks. There are a lot of hills in that part of the world!

We play on the march followed by the congregation with their banners all round the town, stopping at various locations for a short act of worship.

In the evening the Band got on the coach and drove to the first contest venue, ready to start at 4.30.

We signed in and then waited our turn to march. We played a march (Arnhem) down the street to the contest stage and then played another march (Bramwyn) for the adjudicator. This set the pattern for the rest of the evening - as soon as we finished our contest march we got back on the coach and headed for the next venue. The object being to fit in as many village venues as traffic and our lips would allow!

This year we managed to play at 5 venues, finishing back at Greenfield at about 10.30 - with some very pleasing contest results.

Here are some pictures from that day. Select one to view a close-up version and each one will open in its own window.
