"St Sebastian Wokingham Band" is a friendly 2nd section band with an active
social life. We are a contesting band, but we try to limit our contest
appearances to 4 per year, primarily the National Competition (Area) and
contests organised by SCABA (Southern Counties Amateur Bands Association).
We do however try to attend the Whit Walks events in Saddleworth every other
year and have achieved some success. Most notably achieving 1st placed 4th
Section band at the Greenfield contest in 1999 and 1st placed 3rd section
band at the Diggle contest in 2009.
In addition to contesting, the band's calendar includes several concerts,
the usual fetes and some parades.
An invitation:
Anyone living in, or visiting the Wokingham area is cordially invited to come along and meet us in the band-room. You will be welcome to either have a blow and join in the rehearsal or just sit and listen. If you want to come for a blow, all we ask is that you telephone a week ahead so that we can guide you to the most appropriate rehearsal opportunity.
We have around 30 members many of whom like to have a drink in the Crooked Billet pub after rehearsal and who would be happy to make you welcome. You can either have a lift to the pub or if you are driving, we can show you the way. Our members are at their best when gossiping over a drink, be it in a pub, at a contest or some other social gathering.
Why not take a chance? We guarantee not to bite.
The Contacts page provides details for the band's officers who will be pleased to hear from you
