2nd Horn – Julie Bond

Most memorable playing moment …
As a soloist my most proud and memorable playing moment was performing a recital at the London College of Music when I took my diploma. Also playing in a brass ensemble at my father’s funeral was a very sad but powerful memory.

Proudest banding moment …
I was very proud of St Crispin’s School’s production of Les Misérables in 2016 where I played in the live band transposing the French horn part on my Eb.

Previous bands …
I have not played in a brass band since I left the Salvation Army band in 1974!!!!
Since that time I have played in school-based orchestras, swing bands and brass ensembles in my role as a music teacher in a local secondary school.

Favourite piece …
I love any music from Musicals. Also I will always love hymns which remind me of my childhood in the Salvation Army. My favourite piece we used to play was Star Lake!!

Musical ambition …
My ambitions musically now I am retired are to continue playing music and enjoying the challenge of learning new pieces, performing and the fun you have rehearsing with other musicians.
